How to prevent 'List Reply' from sending to more than one address

I am on a mailing list which has (presumably for historical reasons)
two addresses. Sometimes messages arrive with *both* of the addresses
in a format which mutt sees as the list address. Thus, when I use
'List Reply' the outgoing E-Mail preserves the duplication and my
E-Mail to the list appears twice.

Can anyone think of a way to prevent this?

I have to have both list addresses in my mutt 'lists' as E-Mails for
the list may arrive addressed to either address.

Not one within Mutt... The difficulty is in knowing what addresses
are aliases for the same list, and in knowing which address you'd
prefer to use.

The only general method I can think of would be to write your own
program that can be configured to know those things, then invoke your
editor to create your message, and after the editor exits parse the
recipient lists to weed them.

Mutt could of course add a feature that does this... But to me it
seems like such a rare requirement that it wouldn't be worthwhile.
