Discussion:
Using fdm to sync imap folders

I have an Outlook email address that works very slowly over IMAP. It's
practically unusable with Mutt's IMAP feature.

It works much better if I fetch the emails with fdm and use Mutt to manage
them locally. The problem with that, however, is any operations performed on
the emails - such as deleting or moving them to another folder - aren't synced
with the server. Then, when I use Mutt on another computer with the same
account, I have to do it all over again.

Is there a way I can use IMAP to sync whatever I've done to the server but
still store the emails offline so I don't have to use IMAP to read them?

Are you already using header cache?

I use fetchmail to dl and store on a single computer and run mutt in a
tmux session on that computer. I can see it same file structure and mails
from anywhere merely by remotely attaching to that tmux session.

That means that computer always has to be running, though, and you have to be
able to connect to it from any other computer you want to use your email on.
Am I right?
certainly. I run a tmux session on my home server and connect to it from
where ever I happen to be, even with my cell phone.

and that server is a 10 year old headless box sitting under my desk that
provides file transfer, photo gallery and email.
